canon ip3300 printer - problem

I bought this printer a few months ago and when the inks needed refilling I did this at Cartridge World ( the cartridges have a microchip in them and I am pretty sure that the original ink cartridges never went back into the printer ) with no problems until recently. However, last week the printer refused to recognise the inks. I took the printer back to where I bought it and told them exactly what the problem was and I have now been told that they think I need a complete ink cartridge replacement when only the black and red were replaced. If this doesn't work then they don't know what to do and suggested that I get a new printer as I should not have been using any ink cartridge other than the originals. This I find totally unacceptable and see no reason why I should have to replace all the inks when there are usually only the black and red that I need to replace. If I had been told this originally then I wouldn't have bought this printer in the first place. HELP PLEASE

oh dear

you need to visit the canon site and see if the T&C say only genuine parts (which it almost certainly will).

to be fair it's quite reasonable to only guarantee their own parts ... (it won't see the ink .... the ink was made by someone else - why are they liable?) by using someone else's - it's in effect modifying the original ... and that invalidates almost every guarantee I've ever seen)
You (they) can't be certain that the cartridge wasn't faulty and the cause of the problem.

If anything you should return the ink
