Writing DVDs

I have a dvd writer on my laptop and want to copy some photographs in a slideshow and add some music to it to give out as gifts. Should I already have to software to do this or do I need to buy it (or can I download it for free maybe?) What program do I need to look for?

Start - all programs

Look for cd and dvd maker or something similar
