I have Windows Suite 2002 and am thinking of installing Microsoft Office on the same computer.

Is it possible to do this without overriding Windows Suite 2002 and running both systems side-by-side, so that I can get access into both softwares?

Any advice would be most appreciated.

Thanks.

without being too pedantic ... there isn't a suite 2002
(unless I'm having a saga moment)

95, 97, XP, 2003 or 2007

the answer ... whatever the version is maybe ....
different versions sit better with others ... you'll just have to see.

the question is ... why both?
2007 is compatible with all the earlier versions .... earlier being the key here. You can even "save as" older versions

if it's a case of say publisher or something not included in the newer version - the answer is still possibly - it depends on how dependant the prog is on the core files

Hi ACtheTROLL,

Sorry, it is WorkSuite 2002 that I have, not Windows Suite 2002.

My problem is I want to pass an Excel test, which I have to take when job hunting and dealing with employment agencies. These are usually in the Excel 2003 version. I note your point about getting 2007, but the layout looks so different than the versions I have encountered when being tested. (I have downloaded 2007 as a test drive.) Ideally I would like to purchase Excel 2003 on its own, but this seems impossible, so was lookng at Microsoft Office 2003.

I have studied Excel many times but cannot retain it in my memory. I have passed courses, but because I am not using it all the time, I cannot remember it. I also hate maths, which does not help. Unfortunately WorksSuite 2002 does not include Excel,

It is my intention of using Excel 2003 to study, but to carry on using my WorkSuite 2002 package, which was why I asked about overriding one Microsoft version with another.

Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.
yes they will run side by side and independently of each other with out any problems at all.

I sympathise ... you are right - use it or loose it.
you are also right about the difference ... you need to work with the version that's used for the test.

I know quite a few 2007 users who have re installed 2003
and most of them have problems

now we know it's works ... it makes things less complicated - mixing should be painfree

I'm interested how you are so confident about doing it so consistently (mixing office versions that is) - not with office and works
The problems are widely known (sort of a grail amongst IT types)
