Problems with router on lap top?

I have recently bought a packard bell lap top with a nectar roughter i can get on line if the router is conected direct to the laptop but when it is not conected direct it can see the router but asks me for a code to sign on how do i find this

is there a code printed on a label on the router ?? my sky code was on mine so yours may be the same
