Right-click the file, choose properties, uncheck the box "read only", Click OK. Of course, if the medium itself is read-only (e.g. a CD-ROM) this won't be possible and you will need to copy them to a writable location.

I done as you suggested, but the read only box in properties was unchecked anyway. Does anyone else have any suggestions, thanks.
What is the source of these pictures and which program are you using to try and rotate them
Question Author
Just normal camera phone pics, and viewing them in a normal way as i always do, lol. when i rotate them and try to save them its says they are read only files.
Are they on the phone or have you copied them to your computer. If they are still on the phone, then as I said: "Of course, if the medium itself is read-only (e.g. a CD-ROM) this won't be possible and you will need to copy them to a writable location."
Question Author
I've downloaded them from my phone to computer, I can rotate them after right clicking but when i try to save them its says unable to save, read only files. Hope this all makes sense, lol.
Where are you trying to save them to?
Question Author
Just trying to save them to my pictures, would like to view them the right way up, lol.
