I have a ? about file protection on windows xp. I recently went to start, run and entered sfc /scannow. during this scan, I got many errors. error 0x000004c7 saying this file is necessary to maintain system stability. I am then prompted to insert the xp installation cd. Is this error because so many files change with windows updates? Can someone shed some light on this for me? Thank You

Okay, I see. And upon further research, I found that If you copy your I386 folder from your CD to your hard drive you wont need the cd for SCANNOW to work. What brought this on to begin with is I downloaded a Vista theme for XP (I like the black toolbar) and I saw a message pop up saying it was disabling file protection. Not liking the sound of that, I ran the scannow and put everything back to normal. I miss the cool toolbar but i'd rather have a secure system.
