I've got some 900MB CDRs that I need to burn, and was told that you could do it in Nero using the overburn thing.

I tried this, and it went all the way through the process to 99%, then ejected the CD saying there was an error. when I put the CD in, all the files were on there but only half of them could be played (they're MP3s)
I tried it again twice but it did the same.

I had some before and they came up saying 900MB when I put them in so was able to burn them without a problem, but now they're saying 702MB so I can't do it the normal way.

is there a software or anything i can download that definitely works?
or is there a way of doing it without downloading new software that works?

Two issues here

I assume that you actually have bought 900Mb capacity CDs? - (sorry but I di know someone who thought they could just choose in software) 900s are pretty rare

900Mb CDs - are supported by nero - but in addition to that your burner's spec must also support them as must your burner's firmware version (you don't say if you have sucessfully used 900s in the past)

overburning ... is squeezing just a little more out of a CD
(normally only a couple of minutes of audio - or a Mb or two extra for data files - not putting 900Mb into a 700Mb disc

fianlly nero won't warn you when you exceed the max capacity of the CD (in all circumstances)

650, 700 etc is the MINIMUM capacity .... but adding lots and lots of small files can exceed the CDFS capacity of the disc (700Mb actually holds about 718Mb of data at a pinch - I usually aim at 695 and never exceed 710Mb

Finally you might just have a batch of discs that won't burn .... some lesser know brands can be very iffy
One way of edging your bets is to create an ISO (ultraISO or Magic ISO) - either prog will report any errors ....
then burn the image to disc with nero
(recorder | burn image)

If it's music .... another option is to resample the files slightly to a slightly lower bitrate 196->128 ....
it's amazing the difference just one step down makes

Hi
i did say in my question.. I have been able to burn 900s fine before. for some reason it just won't do it now.
I never had to change anything before though because they came up saying 900MB straight away.

I know that people have been able to put 800+ onto a 900 CD using nero, so don't know why it won't work for me..

all of my files are at 128 already..is there any way I can make them a smaller size or anything? instead of being 3MB for each, can I make the 1 or 2 or something?
