Tried to restore my medion desktop back to factory settings with the application and support disc, but the on screen message tells me I have deleted the necessary files, so it`s not possible. Would I still be able to reformat the hard drive, and reinstall windows using the recovery disc. Or does anyone know if it would be possible to copy the files from my sisters hard drive (she has the same computer) and reinstall them on mine. Any help would be really appreciated.

depends how the restore is setup

the newer machines use a non-standard hidden maintenance partition and the cd is just used to cold boot the machine ... the restore files are on the partition

If you've deleted this ... I don't know of any way of re-creating the partition without the software.

Acronis will image the partition ... so you could in theory image your sister's disc and transfer the image to CD/DVD and restore your machine ... then activate the software with your serial.

you need the software though

Thanks for your reply, Is this the software I would need to do this?
Acronis True Image 10 Home (PC)
This is for sale on Amazon at 18.
You do say in theory though, do you think it would be likely to work in practice?

Acronis True Image 10 Home (PC)
Another way you could attack this is with the windows restore utility and try taking the pc back to before you made the changed :>
This is assuming of course that you have this functionality enabled....
Thanks janny, have already tried but restore won`t go back far enough.
My answers are under new name, as for some reason answerbank is saying my bdol user name and password are invalid.
Yes True image home 10 is what you need

I've backed up and restored a few of these .... but never a medion.

Before you spend money .... is it worth talking to medion .... they possibly could send you a resrore restore disc

Got my user name back, don`t know whyit wouldn`t accept before. Thanks ACthetroll, think I might try Acronis, I have restore disc, but necessary files are missing from hard disk. I searched Medion forum last night and others seem to have same problem, but Medion couldn`t help them.
If it's a problem caused by medion ... stamp your feet! insist they help

Yes I was wondering about that, I thought I must have deleted the files by accident, but it seems a bit of a coincidence that others have deleted the same files.
