Can someone please explain the difference between Wi-Fi and wireless LAN? I have wireless BT broadband at home and am looking to buy a laptop which I can use connect to the internet both at home and whilst I'm out and about. Does it need to be both Wi-Fi and wireless LAN compatible? Or are they the same thing?

Thanks

They are one and the same.

Wireless LAN (Wireless Local Area Network) is the more accurate term though.
