I keep getting a pop-up message on my screen warning me that my virtual memory is low. Could someone explain what this means please and also how I can prevent this. Im running Windows XP pro and have 128 MB of RAM. Is this too low? Would it be advisable to install some more memory into my system? Many thanx in advance

It means you have too many tasks running filling up the memory. This is caused my every peice of software installing itself so it starts up when you turn on. Goi into MSCONFIG and under the start up tab, you should be able to remove all the unnecessary start ups.
you access msconfig by : START - RUN - MSCONFIG
Windows uses virtual memory as a swap space when it runs out of physical memory. Virtual memory resides on the hard disk, and if you have it set correctly, the only time you will get this message is if your hard drive is running out of space. The more physical memory (RAM) that you have, the less likely it is that Windows will need to swap to virtual memory. You have 128 Mb of real memory which most people would consider to be a tiny amount these days. Upgrading to 1 Gigabyte wouldn't cost much and would vastly improve the performance of your system. But you also need to check how much space is left on your hard drive as that may be the immediate cause of the messages.
deffinately get more physical memory (RAM). 128 MB is miles to little for XP. 256 MB is minimum and I would suggest 512 MB as the least you need.
You'll want 512.

If you're reasonably confident about fitting it yourself (it's really not that hard...), then go here:

It'll tell you how much RAM you can fit to your system, and what type to buy (you can buy from there too).
