I have two unrelated questions. First, when I try to defragment my hard drive it seems to have got stuck at 23% done. This has happened a few times (I left it on all night, 9 hrs, and it still didn't get any further. It has been a long time (over 12 months) since I last did one and am wondering what's up. It shows it is 'Moving File_REGISTRY_MACHINE_SOFTWARE' on the bottom line. My system is all the usual stuff, XP sp2, NTFS file system etc, any ideas?

My second question is about P2P music . I recently joined a site where I paid 12 quid for a year, to download music and videos. The site said it is 100% legal and all that you download is also. But I have read that you can get into trouble if you do this, so at the moment I have uninstalled the program until I know more. Can anyone throw some more light on this?

Many thanks

Answer 1 - Download Diskeeper, defrag with that and then never use Microsofts again. You'll soon realise why.

Have you done a Skandisk first?. I was advised to do this before a defrag. Checks the HDD media and sorts out any file problems.

I don't know the site but I woild certainly print out the 100% legal statement they make and keep it safe incase I needed it in my defence.... My site Bitorrent don't offer me that slight hope of getting off....
