Problems with dvd player / Sky

I just got my parents a DVD player - however I'm having problems, Sky seems to be conflicting with it. Sky is already hooked up to the TV using a scart lead - so I got a scart doubler and plugged both in. When you switch on the DVD player the picture is awful. The colour is like a bluish grey, and in the backround you can clearly see whatever is showing on Sky. I'm not an expert on these things, and I've probably missed something obvious. Thanks

press tv and then help might help it changes tv to AV1 etc

using this setup, you'll have to switch off one or other of the devices you cant have em both on at once.

To elinminate the conflict i say remove the scart doubler. connect the dvd to the tv via scart, then use an rf lead between the sky box and the tv. tune the tv into the digibox as you would a tv station.you'll lose a little quality this way, but it's the easiest solution!.
