Disconnection Sound

Every now and again I get no disconnection sound when trying to remove a device/s from my laptop. I get the sound when plugging devices in but not when clicking on the 'show hidden icons' arrow on the taskbar and clicking on the device. The sound is there if I just pull the device out .I try not to do that and usually leave it in untill I shut everything down.
I'm running windows 10.
