My wife had a very convincing email purportedly from Royal Mail. It stated that a parcel was waiting for her at an unstated depot and that she should pay £1.99 as the item was insufficiently stamped. The email asked for her name and address.....go figure..

indeed...and how would they know her email addy
Defo spam IMO, but once when I received a gift from a friend in the USA, I had to collect it from post Office Depot and pay some duty on it.

It was a message on her mobile phone. Spam I told her.
Royal Mail wouldnt have her email address, its a scam. The postie would just leave a card with instructions on where to collect the item and how to pay the fee due.
Am not sure what you meant by 'on her mobile phone'. If it was an email it could of been on a laptop or anywhere
bobbin I know lots of people who have interweb on their phone.
Course they have. I have email on my phone. I was puzzled by the post which said "it was a message on her mobile phone" when we asked how they knew her email address.
Anyway, not matter. Its spam wotever
I get emails from Royal Mail when a sender has tracked a parcel. The address they come from is [email protected]

The text in the last one I had was:

We've received your parcel from [retailer]. Delivery is due:

Friday, 29 January 2021*

Between

09:21am and 1:21pm*
We won't need a signature. Not going to be in?

And below that it gives a tracking number.

Royal Mail give you an option to rearrange delivery.
That's right ummmm - and your post reminded me that they have my email address because I've previously registered with them in order to do just that - arrange a redelivery after a 'something for you' card through the door.

The scams are quite convincing though. Especially if you're an Amazon addict like me :-D

Thanks all. As I thought definitely a scam....deleted.
If they have the parcel then they already have the name and address.
did it have her correct email?
sorry, was the email addressed to her or her email address.
Yes, of course its a scam. They said they have a parcel for her and are asking for her name and address, well if they really did have a parcel for her it would already have her name and address already on it!!! You can tell its a scam at 20 paces.
