Laptop Won't Shut Down.

My laptop has begun to be difficult about shutting down. It will go to sleep but it won't shut down.

Acer Aspire, Windows 7. Chrome.

Help please.

Strange. How are you trying to shut it down ?

it's not stuck in a loop trying to do an update is it?

To shut it down, I left click on the windows icon at the bottom left. Up pops 'Shut down'. When I click on Shut down nothing happens.

It is only when I click on the right facing arrow that I get options:- Switch user, log off. lock, restart, sleep and hibernate.

holding the power button down should shut it down

Ael, I tried the power button and that worked but turned back on with black screen and white writing telling me that windows did not shut down properly.

Buen, after following those 'complicated' instructions, it seems to be ok now.

To be honest, Ael, I don't know what I've done but it's worked. :-)
