I have a Canon 5620 series printer/scanner, and all the inks have run out. Can I just replace the large black cartridge, as I hardly ever print in color?

Price of ink over here we junk the whole lot and buy a new one. Sometimes cheaper :-) I don't know the answer. You would probably get pop ups saying your colour ink s are empty all the time.
You can set the print favourites to mono only so I reckon it would work with one Black cartridge.
Most printers won't operate like that , certainly not as far as I know.

The colored ones have been empty for a while, and the machine flashes "If you want to continue printing, press OK". But now the large black is empty, and that's the only one I use really.
So, you are saying your printer works with only black already?

Not sure what the query is , guess I have misunderstood you.

Thanks for your responses. I guess I was a little vague. Because of the cost of ink, I'm wondering if I can just replace the large black and leave the empty colored ones in the machine. You know what?...I'm going to try it and see what happens. The cost of cartridges are about 10 pounds in your money.
