Youtube Video Downloaders

Does a free, safe youtube video downloader exist that is totally spyware free? Even the ones that come as Firefox add-ons are full of spyware. I tried the Firefox add-on 'Flash Video Downloader - YouTube HD Download 6.8.3' which was full of spyware. Now I am suspicious of them all! Thank you

Rarely use youtube myself, but it used to be the case that if you inserted the word "kiss" or "kick" in front of the youtube URL this would enable a link so you could download and save the clip.

I use a Firefox add-on called Video Downloadhelper, and never had any trouble with it. But there again, whenever I recommend anything, that's usually the Kiss of Death.
