You can rip and burn a CD with Windows Media Player which is included in Windows 7 and I assume Windows 8.

Don't rip into i Tunes. Plenty of other free stuff to do the same job.
I assume these will also work in w8 (I still on W7)
Once you have downloaded a CD to I-tunes, click and drag it to 'Playlists'. Once it is in playlists, right click on album and scroll down to 'Burn to disc', Voila!

I was going to suggest same as VHG.
You can just use WMP to rip and burn, which is included in Windows 8 (and presumably Windows 8.1).
