Problem With Firefox

Sorry, me again. I've just tried to download the manual for my new printer in order to sort out a problem, and am getting the message 'server not found' from Firefox. I cannot retype the address as it was direct from a link in the printer dialogue box, and the internet connection is OK; the third possibility suggested was that if the computer is protected by a firewall I should make sure that Firefox is allowed to access the internet.

However, I always use Google Chrome (though I do have Firefox installed), so would prefer to access the manual that way. I looked at the Firefox site, which seems to be saying that Firefox is my default browser. If this is so, how do I change it, please? And if it insists that I use Firefox, how do I give it permission to access the web?

I'm sure this is all very basic, but I haven't had to do it before so am nervous of doing the wrong thing. I'm running Windows 7, and using Norton antivirus.

The circumstances you describe normally arise when there's a problem 'at the other end'. i.e. it's most likely that it's a problem with the server where the file for the manual is meant to be. Which printer is it? (I'll see if I can download it or if I get the same problem as you).

Canon Pixma iP 2850. Thanks.
You have obviously made Firefox your Default Browser. Are you sure that you always use Google Chrome as your Browser or is Google just your Search Engine.

Personally' I would keep Firefox as the default. However if you wish to have Google as your Default Browser, follow the instructions in the following link.:-

I feel sure that, if you tell Buenchico the make and model number of your Printer, he will provide you with a better answer than I might give.

Hans.

I've had no problems downloading the file (using Firefox) by clicking 'Accept & Download' here:
http://www.canon.co.uk/Support/Consumer_Products/products/printers/InkJet/PIXMA_iP_series/PIXMA_iP2850.aspx?type=manuals&manualid=tcm:14-1142027
(That link should work with any browser. If you continue to have problems I'll put the file on my web storage area and give you a link to it).

If you want to make Chrome your default browser (instead of Firefox), see here:

Many thanks, both of you. I now have Chrome as my default browser an have downloaded the manual. I may leave it until tomorrow to sort out the particular problem I encountered. And thanks for your advice previously; Canon customer support replied very quickly and were very helpful.
