Please help us to help you! What is 'ehd' ? What is your old operating system, and what is your new system eg Windows 7, Windows 8, Apple Mac OS X, maybe even Linux?? What programme was the original document saved to? On reply, will try and help you.
ehd I assume means an external hard drive?

We need all the other details as well plus how did you transfer the original files to the External Hard Drive?
ehd = external hard drive i would imagine
I'm guessing that your external hard drive still thinks that it's 'owned' by the user of your old PC and that you need to 'take ownership' of it as the user of the new PC:

Sorry, ehd is external hard drive. My old PC was Windows XP and new one is Windows 7 Home Premium. Documents before were written on Microsoft office but I have installed Libre Office on new PC. Hope this helps and if you need to know more i'll do my bezt to answer. Thanks.
If you can actually see the files from your old PC then I'm mystified as to why Libre Office can't open them. I can suggest nothing other than trying Open Office
https://www.openoffice.org/
or KingSoft Office
http://www.kingsoftstore.co.uk/
instead.

However if the files simply seem to have disappeared then it's probably an 'ownership' problem, as above.
Can you actually see the old files on your external hard drive?? If so just try to C&P [cut&paste] one as a sample. eg Hi-light the entire doc, press command C. Open your new office program and press command & V. Does it open on your new comp. Also where is your old Ext Hard Drive?? Why can't you connect it to your new comp. What is the 'custom' Office facility on your new comp?? Sorry if I'm too simple!!

I copied and pasted the 'My Documents' folder where all of my documents were, old quizzes, letters etc and pasted them into an EHD, I then tried to copy and paste them from EHD to new PC but the 'My Documents' icon is there and it has a 'small blue arrow' and is saying there is only 1KB in therend when I try to open it it says, 'the drive or network for the file 'my documents' is not available'!! Does this make sense to anyone?
That does indeed sound like an 'ownership' problem. See the video above.
Yes totally - you are trying to download 'files' in total which is too large for your 'allowed' capacity. Go back to my previous post. Can you actually see/open a SINGLE document, it should have a.[dot] doc ending, maybe .txt. Just try & C&P the single doc - not the entire files. Sorry but unless that works, then just don't think you are going to recover the documents/files without 'outside' help - hope I'm wrong. Nos da / Good Night.
