I am looking for a fairly basic laptop for my cousin. She has a very old laptop (acer) with win XP. She is not really computer savvy, but she is learning and rather fancies a toshiba C855. I think this would be good for her and will service her computer requirements for a few years. Windows 8 is totally beyond her. Sound is not important as she is 90% deaf. Do you have any recommendations? I would appreciate your input.

Hi Dicky

The Toshiba C855 has rather varied online reviews but it generally meets with most people's approval. However there are cheaper options available which are at least as good, as I suggested earlier this evening:

Sorry Chris posted my thanks on the wrong thread. I have passed that on for her approval ,or no, as the case may be.

B, she ended up wanting the purple C855 Tosh solitaire which I reserve for her at her local Arg*s. £299 with winds 7. Good deal I thought, went to pick it up, at the checkout she was asked for £399, showed the print out of the reservation, £100 knocked off! Opened up the comp back at her house and it was full of winds 8. She asked if we should take it back, I said that she might learn to live with it. What would you do? ;-)
