I have accidentally deleted an AVI file from my camera whilst on holiday.
Is it possible to recover the data file from the SD card? All other photo and AVI files are still on the card. Is it possible to do this for free or what is the best way to recover the deleted file or where should I send the card to please?

The camera is a Canon G7.

Thanks,
Dave H

Note that when a file is deleted it does not actually go off the card, it is just hidden.

But the space it takes up is marked as reusable.

So if you have taken more pictures or videos they may have written over it.

I'll second Recuva - done the job for me a couple of times now. (Not my files/photos, but family members)
I'll 3rd recuva :)

I've used it many times. you will need to be able to see the card as a drive on your computer to use it though. So if your camera doesn't make the card available as a removable drive when it's plugged into the computer then you will need to use a card reader (cheap as chips if you've not got one)

I too have used recover for accidentally deleted files or file which have mysteriously vanished- worked very well.

It is very clear from above answers that what we should do when we lose our important data.
