Happy Progenitor A’s Day!

Dear marriage supporter,

When Spain redefined marriage the Spanish Government rewrote birth certificates, removing the words “father and mother” and replacing them with “progenitor A and progenitor B”.

So, this Father’s Day weekend, we have placed adverts on 13 websites wishing Britain “Happy Progenitor A’s Day”, and asking: “what will they change next?”

It’s no joke. Those calling for marriage to be redefined have already said the words “husband and wife” should be stripped out of matrimonial law.

Words matter because truth matters. You and 550,000 others want to keep the true meaning of marriage. More and more people are joining in the campaign every day.

The C4M campaign rolls on. The petition continues to grow daily, and it will remain open. We will not rest nor will we waver in our defence of marriage. Our campaign will continue into the months and years ahead.

The Home Office’s consultation on redefining marriage has now closed. Thanks to all of you who sent a response. It looks like it could be the largest response in British Government history.

Please continue to stand with us, and together we can keep the true meaning of marriage.

Yours sincerely,

Colin Hart
Campaign Director
Coalition for Marriage

All a bit sad IMO

I haven’t.

Has Colin Hart defined 'the true meaning of marriage', and if so, what's his definition and where does he get it from?
I'm glad you added those five words at the end.
Come on naomi stop stirring you know exactly what he means.
Ron, is this is a discussion or not? I'm not stirring - I'm asking a valid question. As far as I can tell from what Maggie has posted, he hasn't explained his reasoning - he simply wants us all to agree with him - but I can't consider his proposal (no pun intended) unless I know where he's coming from.
Oh dear!
here we go again

Sorry I can't enlighten you Naomi, just passing it on as I received it. Came from a friend with a strong Christian faith.
some people, like this Hart bloke, just have too much time on their hands
reading their website, it would appear that C4M consider "the true meaning of marriage" to be as per the definition outlined in the CofE's canon law on the subject, ie 1man and 1woman.
Firstly, C4M are at the cutting edge..............as usual.........
http://www.telegraph....our-Progenitor-A.html

Secondly, The terms 'husband' and 'wife' are not being wrenched kicking and screaming out of legislation....they will probably/possibly be replaced by words akin to 'spouse', etc. to better reflect the parties to the marriage contract.

And, thirdly...........because it bears repeated readings;
1. Being gay is not natural. Real Christians always reject unnatural things like eyeglasses, polyester, and air conditioning.
2. Gay marriage will encourage people to be gay, in the same way that hanging around tall people will make you tall.
3. Legalizing gay marriage will open the door to all kinds of crazy behaviour. People may even wish to marry their pets because a dog has legal standing and can sign a marriage contract.
4. Straight marriage has been around a long time and hasn’t changed at all; women are still property, blacks still can’t marry whites, and divorce is still illegal.
5. Straight marriage will be less meaningful if gay marriage were allowed; the sanctity of Britany Spears’ 55-hour just-for-fun marriage would be destroyed.
6. Straight marriages are valid because they produce children. Gay couples, infertile couples, and old people shouldn’t be allowed to marry because our orphanages aren’t full yet, and the world needs more children.
7. Obviously gay parents will raise gay children, since straight parents only raise straight children.
8. Gay marriage is not supported by religion. In a theocracy like ours, the values of one religion are imposed on the entire country. That’s why we have only one religion in the UK.
9. Children can never succeed without a male and a female role model at home. That’s why we as a society expressly forbid single parents to raise children.
10. Gay marriage will change the foundation of society; we could never adapt to new social norms. Just like we haven’t adapted to cars, the service-sector economy, or longer life spans.
Maggie, It was sent to me a few weeks ago, but since you posted it, I thought you might know more about his reasoning. It seems a bit presumptive of him to ask people to support him but not tell them why he thinks they should. Even politicians don't do that. ;o)
550,000 want to keep marriage the way it is? That's, er, not an awful lot, is it?

"Progenitor" just means "parent", as far as I know. I've never minded being known as a parent, personally.
Jack, I'm struggling to find anything wrong with all that. ;o)
People were living together and having children long before any kind of religion came along. The biggest cause of blood letting has always been one religion trying to impose it's philosophy on everyone else. What nonsense!
I dont much care what other people call me and I pften use the word spouse when doing official stuff. I know what and who I am and that, to me, is all that matters.
