Hi there, today i had to update some drivers....everything went smoothly until i had to update my USB's on my pc, on reboot my keyboard and mouse kicked in as normal until windows started loading, then the lights on my usb wired mouse and usb wired keyboard both went out and no longer worked...thinking i had broken my keyboard and mouse i went straight out and replaced them both, but i still have exactly the same problem, on start up both mouse and keyboard load up but on loading of windows they both stop working...dont know if the following info is useful or not but OS is Windows XP Pro. many thanks to all who respond :)

Surprised you have not had a n answer yet, with all the techies here. I think (and only think) that the bios that starts your operating system has default mouse and keyboard drivers. once the OS kicks in the proper drivers for the usb are started, that's when the trouble starts.

When you start your computer watch the screen, you'll probably see a line on the bottom to inform you which function key to press to load up the restore function on your OS.
