My PC cannot recognise my printer

While trying to install an Epson printer on my computer,it only goes as faras checking connection of printer to PC and then says unable to find a device.
The wiring is fine PC to printer and power to printer. any suggestions would be a help.

1) Uninstall the printer.

2) Go to the Epson website and download the correct drivers / software for your printer and operating system, taking care to note the difference between 32-bit and 64-bit, if necessary

3) Reinstall the printer

Uninstall it, delete the drivers, and then reinstall, making sure you have the correct drivers for the particular model of the device and version of your operating system.
do you have usb connection ? in addition to power that is...

Also i loaded the CD custom not easy install and it shows the files on the pc but does not send the print to the printer

In addition to Marks answer..... Do NOT plug the printer in until the software tells you to during the installation.
