Use of Windows Live Mail with other browsers (than IE)

Is there any reason why I can't use Windows Live Mail for email but a non-Microsoft browser (like Firefox) for internet?
I'm currently using IE8 and Windows 7 as my operating system.

I'd also be a little concerned that you have windows7 and are are still on IE8, as IE9 should have been rolled out via automatic updates some time ago.

If you've been declining or ignoring the update on purpose then fair enough, but if you are just way behind on your windows updates you should run an update at least twice (maybe more times) to make sure you've...

No reason at all. In fact, I can't think of any reason why you would want to continue to use IE8 for anything at all unless you are a web developer and need it for testing...

I suppressed it upgrading, Chuck. Don't like being an early-adopter when it comes to all things Microsoft (only just upgraded from Vista to Windows 7).
But you guys all seem convinced IE isn't much cop.

Untick IE7 from Windows Updates.
Take everything else (apart from maybe all the latest .NET crap (which will probably give other issues)
