Within five minutes of starting a session my laptop tends to freeze and will not respond to any keyboard or mouse commands. Sometimes it unfreezes itself after a a couple of minutes, others not, so I have to switch off the power. On restarting I don't have any further problems for the rest of the session. Anyone got any ideas as to why this might be? It's a Compaq Presario CQ60 running on Vista, if that's any help.

Not sure what the problem is, but if it was mine i would copy any needed personal files to external and restore the factory settings.

For Compaq this can be done by tapping F11 immediately you switch on.

Thanks for your answer. I think that is a bit of a drastic step at the moment as it is more of an irritant than a real problem. I don't have an external anyway, so not really an option.
