Very basic question from a technophobe - how do I get those chevrons (right and left positions) to indicate I've taken something from previously quoted text? Thank you

They're on the same keys as your comma and full stop. Press shift to activate...
Snags is great with <<handy hints>>
to the right of the letter m are< < >>. Hold the Shift key down first.

Place the cursor where you want the chevrons' to appear, press and hols the shift key whilst pressing the comma or full stop key, depending on which direction chevron you want...
On the left of the keyboard, below the 'caps lock' key, theres an arrow. That's the shift key. Hold it down then press the key with the comma( to the right of the letter 'm' for this <. The key above the full stop for this>
Yes, you have to copy and paste the part of the text you want to put in the chevrons... there is nothing automatic about it, it's all done manually.
