Does anyone know how Emile Heskey continues to get picked for these important England matches when he can't even command a full time slot in the Aston Villa team? The Villa playes Ashly Young and Gabby Agbonlahor who I thought had a chance of selection have been completely ignored.

June 1st is D-Day for the final 23 to be selected Dodger and everyones fate will be decided then, Heskey's included.
englandshire have one of the best managers around just now............... trust him
I've never understood how he ever got in the team full stop, kin useless!
Heskey is a big physical presence up front, can hold on to the ball and wait for supporting players to arrive. He is very one-dimensional, but he does that job very well. A good option if Capello wants to play with one up front. Only Zamora compares, but although he's playing well, is carrying an injury. Heskey has to be considered.
I think gabby lacks confidence in front of goal, maybe he needs a few more years in the league to gain some bulk and confidence.

not sure why huskey keeps getting picked, it must be his presence (he may be seen as an intimidating figure)
Other surprising omissions from the squad ...

Goalkeepers

Mitchell Walker ... Brighton and Hove Albion

Defenders

Jim McNulty ... Brighton and Hove Albion

Tommy Elphick ... Brighton and Hove Albion

James Tunnicliffe ... Brighton and Hove Albion

Midfielders

Dean Cox ... Brighton and Hove Albion

Alan Navarro ... Brighton and Hove Albion

Gary Hart ... Brighton and Hove Albion

Strikers

Glenn Murray ... Brighton and Hove Albion

Chris Holroyd ... Brighton and Hove Albion
JJ - and I thought Heskey was one dimensional!
Up the Cherries ;)
Woody if we play one up front it better be Rooney not Heskey.

Some of the best results we have had over the last few years have been with Heskey playing and some of the worst when he hasn't, look it up, start at about Germany 1 England 5 and move forward.

Apparently Rooney likes hin in the side.
joggerjayne , Ah another Seagull supporter, that makes 2 of us.
