In the playing conditions for the current ICC World Twenty20, a free hit is allowed for a foot-fault no-ball. If a bowler delivers any other no-ball or wide, no free hit is allowed, why?

If the free hit delivery is called as any type of no-ball or wide, another free hit is allowed, hardly consistent is it?

The playing conditions say "For any free hit, the striker can be dismissed only under the circumstances that apply for a no ball, even if the delivery for the free hit is called wide ball."

It just seems odd that wi a free hit, the bowling side is penalized more for the no-ball which a batsman can score off anyway, rather than a wide which he can't .
