Uwe Seeler. Remembered with much respect, one of the Football Giants from my youthful football fandom, who bestrode the Wembley Turf in the 1966 World Cup final.

Don't remember too much about his 1966 captaincy of W Germany, to be honest, Canary - i was only 11. I do, unfortunately, recall everything about his equalising goal in the 1970 World Cup. England 2-0 up and coasting to the semis, Ramsey takes Bobby Charlton off (to save him for said semis), then the German fightback began. Seeler netting their second on 76 minutes to take the tie into extra time and for Gerd Muller to knock us out.

RIP Uwe Seeler
Didnt Germany lead 1-0 and then England went 1-1 then 2-1 before WG equalised.
Sure it were never 2-0
Reading yous again I guess it was just a typo and you did mean 2-1.
I were too young to remember it- still in nappies
I remember Seeler. Him and Muller were a strong front pairing.

RIP.
sorry Ken didnt read fully and thought you was still talking about the 1966 final! I only just found out it was Weber not Seeler in 1966.... my memory told me it was Seeler
No probs, Bobbin.
