Honestly Sqad, I don't think the LTA had much choice in the matter. If they had let the Russian/Belarusian play Wimbledon, they would've faced a massive public backlash. I think I'd have liked to have seen them allowed to play, but their prize money instead donated to the Ukrainian aid fund. The better the Russian athletes do, the more money goes to Ukraine.

Yes.

If Russia wants its people to participate in the activities that those from normal civilised countries do, it must act as a normal civilised country. Poisoning people on foreign soil and invading the sovereign territory of a neighbouring nation, killing many civilians and starving those who remain is not normal civilised behaviour.
100%
can't help their country of birth can they?
Yes, ordinarily I would say that sport should be separate from politics but in this case barbarians cannot expect the privileges of the civilised.
I wouldn't think Putin would like to see another balls up anyhow. Yes I agree.
Yes - I think Russia (& Russians) should be completely ostracised until they replace Putin and his crew with something more reasonable. The change has got to come from within.
Although I feel sorry for the individual players this is the right decision. Russia has not done something a bit naughty, they have invaded a first world nation and are risking world war. Something unthinkable and unforgivable. Of course they shouldn't play Wimbledon.
No, sorry I don't. They are individual sportsmen and women. We won't be banning UK players because of the balls up BoJo is making of the country. Where will it all end? No Wimbledon?
Yes.
Yes, definitely.
//can't help their country of birth can they?//

No. And neither can the people in Ukraine. The difference is (as far as this question goes) is that a handful of elite Russian tennis players have been banned from the world's premier tennis tournament whilst millions of Ukrainians have been driven from their homes, many killed and many more suffering extreme deprivation.

In 2018 56m Russians (77% of the 67% who voted) voted for Putin. . Only the Russians can rid their country of him and, bar a revolution, they won't be able to do that for another couple of years. You gets what you pays for
are you seriously comparing Johnson to Putin?

Yes I agree with it.
I suppose so...........makes everybody feel patriotic.
so, maggie, invading a soverigh country, raping pillaging and committing all manner of war crimes is equivalent to having 6 work mates round for 9 mins in the office you all share is it? Right oh! what a strange set of priorities you have.
NJ //they won't be able to do that for another couple of years. //
Not even then as Putin got himself voted in for life.
//We won't be banning UK players because of the balls up BoJo is making of the country.//

The difference is, maggie, the balls up that BoJo is making of this country only affects those within it and, when I last looked, I didn't notice that any of them have had their homes reduced to rubble by shelling and bombing orchestrated from Downing Street. Bit of a poor comparison, if I may say so.

One thing for sure, I'm gonna miss seeing Rublev.
There very very many Russian people turning a blind eye to whats happening in Ukraine, and yes there are many who are to scared to do anything about it. But until they do do something it will continue.

Playing tennis while your so called leader slaughters women and children on a daily basis.
I think that they should have been allowed to enter, not as representatives of Russsia, but as individuals.

I agree with DannyK.
