Rightly so in my opinion :

Rumours recently were that his removal was a key decision in whether Hamilton would ever race again or not
That aside I believe the FIA have done the right thing
People in that position have a responsibility to get the big decisions right
Masi got it badly wrong

He needed to go - but the crucial change seems to be that Team Managers will no longer have a hotline to the Race Director during the race, but will now have to go through an arms-length process - which is how it always should have been.
I wouldn't be surprised if he got a payoff for the FIX .
No surprise .

He manipulated the race outcome , to give what he thought would be an 'exciting ' final few laps .

Not to mention pressure from Red Bull , allegedly
yep correct decision, he had to go, made the sport a farce on what should have been its greatest day.
By the way ,does anyone know if these new power units will have proper engine noise ?
Right decision. The end of the 2021 F1 season was a farce. For the race director not to follow the rules in worser to manufacture an exciting finish was a disgrace.

It may not have been the desired finale, but if Hamilton or Verstappen we’re a minute down the road and it was boring as hell, is not relevant. Rules in sport are rules.
Worser!!! I typed order.
yes, quite right You don't change the rules in mid-race, it makes the whole sport look fraudulent. He'll probably get a can of Red Bull every day for life now.
Even though he’s the F1 champion, I feel a bit sorry for Verstappen; he’s an awesome driver and, I have no doubt, will
go on to win again, but I’m sure I’m not the only one who thinks the 2021 final race was ‘engineered’ to allow him to win, thus cheapening his achievement.

The sacking, in my mind, kind of confirms it.
**He'll probably get a can of Red Bull every day for life now.**
Lol.
There’s no allegedly about it Bazile. Horner was on the radio to the race director - we all heard what he was saying, and the RD gave in. I like Horner, but did lose a teensy bit of respect for him.

In my book if you can’t win fair, there’s no point in winning.

I agree with that DD

F1 fans will always know it to be a tarnished title
One that was decided in the race directors office instead of on the track

Deep down not even Verstappen could accept that totally in his heart of hearts

Here is hoping for a fairer fight this season
who, Lewis or Max? ^
as to the can of Red Pull....
And I am glad that MaVi has been side-lined - stick to the French footie, mate, and you didn't coming out of that smelling of salts recently.....
The FIA also needs to clarify situations such as the Spa debacle. To start a race under the safety car and then stop it two laps later robs not only the drivers and their teams but also the spectators who pay an eye-watering amount of money and can't claim a refund if the race 'starts' .
true, zebo.....
Does anyone know the answer to my question. ?

I could have sworn that it was supposed to be one of the changes to the 22 season .
However I can't find anything on it

Tbf they have changed the rules after that debacle too :

Indeed, zebo. Nobody deserved any points for that fiasco. Couple that with the disgusting injustice that was meted out in Abu Dhabi and Mrs NJ and I were on the point of kicking F1 into touch. We’ve been following it ardently for 40 years and have attended a number of races including Monaco and Singapore in recent years. We’re still debating our future interest in the sport and now that Masi has been kicked into touch it may have swung it. But there is no doubt that the decisions made in 2021 have brought the sport into disrepute. Things have definitely gone downhill since Charlie Whiting sadly left us.

//…does anyone know if these new power units will have proper engine noise ?//

Same power units as 2021 are being used this year, baz. The principle (visible) changes are aerodynamics and eighteen inch wheels with “spats.”
