It's the Winter Olympics ... Yaaaa ... (fizzles out)

But it's in China. And maybe we shouldn't be there (heartbreaking for the athletes, I know).

Two weeks, once again glorifying that ghastly, abusive regime. Yeah sure, a few "token" protests ... but not really.

Maybe the sporting world should refuse to go to China. And Qatar, come to think of it.

And yet ... I LOVE the Winter Olympics SO MUCH.

I feel conflicted.

Hi JJ. Nice to see you again.
I'm not sure that anyone is qualified to dictate other folk's conscience.
It's entirely a personal decision. Wherever one goes, or does, you're possibly "glorifying" or "supporting" someone's oppression somewhere.
Just think how conflicted all those Newcastle fans must feel, JJ:-/

Ken ... I might ask them in March. I have tickets for when we play them at St James's Park (or does it have a new Arabic name??)
jogger my darling, nice to see you posting. (You're not a bloke are you ;-)?
Question Author
They will feel even more conflicted if they get relegated.
Lovely to see you about JJ.

Hey, sqaddy x
No, don't panic ... I'm not ...
I mean, at the mo, I am still allowed to be a girl. Before long, we might be forbidden from making such a binary distinction.
I might have to become a "non binary gender neutral human, sorry hu-person who has a v****a not that that means anything any more" person.

I couldn't resist coming for a chat about the Olympics, Ark
Hi JJ, good to see you
Errr what’s this about the TOON ARMY :0(
JJ's a Brighton Hove Albion fan (SAB Penguins ;-)
Yes I remember Arky

Hey, Bobbs

I think Ken was alluding to the fact that Newcastle are now a hugely wealthy club, and can afford to become the next Chelsea, or Man City ...

But their new owners have a questionable track record when it come to things like human rights ... gender equality ... not murdering journalists ...
Watching the Opening Ceremony now. Oh the memories of whizzing down a slope in the snow with the sun shining. And then talking about it all evening in the bar to friendly people who all had that one interest in common. Sigh!

Hi JJ, from Hove;-)
Actually JJ I think Ken was alluding to the Magpies having questionable new owners.
Yes I know JJ but they aren’t the only club to have Arab owners , they’re the richest club now but I can’t see that saving them from the drop , the current set up play like there in a Sunday morning league
was that sledging after school ?
Sorry missed the last paragraph JJ, I'm getting a drink ;-)
* they’re not there!
Question Author
I hope the Magpies avoid relegation ... if only because an Away weekend in Newcastle is so much fun.
