Thanks.

Do you know any rich people who want to buy a football club?
Mrs Hughes, who is something of an expert in matters football-related, opined a few days ago that Mr Gerrard would be unlikely to move because -

He was successful and well-thought-of

Villa may face relegation

So it will take serious money to get him.

Any word on the contract he is signing?

"Six years after departing Liverpool as a player, Gerrard is returning to the Premier League and will become the highest-paid manager in Villa's history on a deal worth around £5 million a year."

^^^Sorry Hopkirk, I don't ;-)
So that's veela down then.

I doubt it, Piggy.
Stephen Gerrard has the makings of an excellent manager. This is a stepping stone to Liverpool
But hoppy he aint got any prem experience.
I think it'll be interesting, the EPL is a huge leap from the SPL, more than three teams can play football for a start.

I remember hearing about him as a senior player and captain, on the Peter Crouch podcast.

He sounded like a ruthless ultra demanding man, who put enormous pressure on junior players. He did sound unpleasant (which surprised me). However it probably shows the ruthless steel backbone needed to get his team to the top. I tip him to be successful.
I wonder if Rangers will headhunt Stephen Glass from Aberdeen. If they do it will be the first favour Rangers has ever done for Aberdeen.
Mind you.If Aberdeen played against every other club like they play against Rangers,Aberdeen would be the champions league winners every year since it started.According to partner anyway.Bluenose ba.....
Even the bright lights of Govan couldn't hold the scouser lad. :-D
Huh,stuff yer Govan lights,Doug. The Northern Lights of Old Aberdeen mean home, sweet home to me,the northern lig...ach,ye ken fit i mean....
An American, a Liverpudlian, and a Villa fan were discussing which of their particular brands of football were the toughest.

The American said, "We've got this quarterback Peyton Manning who's just won his second Super Bowl ring. Well, one day Manning was sacked so hard, his front split open and his guts spilled out onto the turf. Luckily, one of the best surgeons in the country was in the crowd, and he scooped up Manning's guts, shovelled them back inside, and sewed Manning up. He continued the game, and went on to throw the winning touchdown pass. That's how tough American football is."

The Liverpudlian said, "That's quite tough, but there's an English footballer named Steven Gerrard who played for Liverpool and captained the national team. During one match, while rising up to meet a corner kick, Gerrard headed the ball so hard his head split open and his brains tumbled out onto the pitch. Fortunately in the crowd, there was a quite splendid neurosurgeon who picked up the brains, dusted them off, and tucked them back into Gerrard's skull, before sewing back up. Gerrard went on to play the rest of the match, and scored a magnificent winner in the 90th minute. That's how tough English football is and now, following a stint in Weegieland, he's the manager-to-be of Aston Villa."

The Villa fan said, "That's pretty tough, but we had a footy manager back in the day named Dean Smith, who had no guts, no brains, and still managed the side for 139 games for his club with a win rate of 40% and took them up into the Premier League. That's how tough Villa football is - ultimately Gerrard will soon be thinking that he's in charge of the Titanic!
wow
well done dtc

gerrard doesnt play cricket then? his job is probably secure
Oh no !

Norwich are going for Lampard :-(
I think he’ll do quite well at Norwich, Chelsea were too big and too soon for him. As proven time and time again not all ex players become great manager’s though.

I always love it when the Villa obsession from the Baggies and Blues fans comes out.
