I think there's a fair chance of her winning both SPOTY and the junior award.
I doubt that any bookies would give odds against a certain 18 year old winning it.
in her favour is she actually does have a personality and thankfully not covered in tattoos.
Totally agree Grumpy and She has to be a certainty.
no way it could be Sarah Storey or Jason Kenny, I suppose.
A couple of weeks ago, I'd have said that Tom Daley was a shoe in, but it will take something spectacular for Emma not to win it now, and I don't think there's enough time between now and SPOTY for that to happen.
These things are never certain! Remember Roger Bannister?
Well, Greg Rusedski won it, and he only got to the final of the US Open (and lost)
Can't stand the program when it's shown on TV, find nauseating and embarrassing.
To JimF at 23.32.Chris Chataway was the first winner,as you probably know.Apparently he won because people saw him beat Vladimir Kutz in a thrilling finish under lights at the White City.As Emma’s achievement has been watched my many then it will definitely gain her a lot of votes. On the side of the coin they have an overseas award.I sincerely hope it doesn’t go to Djokovic,a great player but a very poor “sportsman.”
Other side of the coin.
The very moment she won I told my wife "well there's the sports personality of the year in the bag"
i'd like to see sarah storey or hannah cockcroft win it
Grumpy, the title is Sports Personality Of The Year, not Sportsman Of The Year. Given that all Djoko has achieved this year - yes i know he was beaten last night (by the world number 2)) but he has almost totally dominated this year - would he not be deserving of the award? He won it back in 2011 and tennis has figured quite prominently in this category with no less than 16 awards (4 for Federer). Who would you suggest?
As I said Ken he is a great tennis player, his achievements speak for themselves. However his tantrums, for that is what they are,do not look good. They are obviously a cynical attempt to break the concentration of his opponents.Well done Medvedev for not falling “in the trap.”

You haven't said who you suggest grumpy?
You have to be British to win SPOTY so Djokovic doesn't qualify.
I felt a bit sorry for him last night. He really wasn't at it.
Although I'm not a huge fan of his, it would have been great to see a calendar grand slam by a male.
Nothing is certain ... as we speak the pinched faced muck rakers are trawling the web hoping to find something posted by her when she was 12. Preferably in Mandarin.
It's no means certain - never mind Emma R, you have Lewis H up there if he lands a record breaking championship and 100 Grand Prix wins - and keeps his head given Verstappen's attempt to decapitate him. Apart from Sarah Storey, don't forget that there are also the Kennys as well for their track-cycling records - could have a joint award between them.

Novichok - could get the International award but not the big one.
