He’s a total nutter who’s courted violence throughout his career , I hope Bristol Rovers sack him immediately

When you say "loose cannon" I assume you mean "complete and utter thug"? The bloke should've been banned for life from football for his past misdemeanours long before now.

Completely Radio, dunno how he gets the time of day let alone a manager's job.
He has a drink problem. Not the first footballer to suffer that fate. Not the first footballer to be a wife beater.

Gromit- //He has a drink problem. Not the first footballer to suffer that fate. Not the first footballer to be a wife beater.//

Possibly the first player to attempt to blind a teammate though.

Good Lord, the hands of time haven't been terribly kind to him...

Regarding his conduct, put simply he's an animal.
Isn't his brother in jail for murder, I tought I read that somewhere, looks like a right nasty family.
Damn savage - should never see the light of day again!
Is it not strange a football team have him as coach/manager ?
What a charming family the Bartons seem to be StPeter.
I never rated him as player either, just a nob.
//Is it not strange a football team have him as coach/manager ?//
makes you wonder what those who appointed him were thinking?
They clearly weren't.
You never rated him as a player, Arky? Quite a few better judges than you did. Joey Barton was a very decent midfielder with over 300 Premier League appearances to his name, for a number of clubs. And he was voted Player Of The Season during his first stint at Burnley. Where, i might add, according to Sean Dyche, Barton was the consummate professional.
Unfortunately, in Barton's case, Hyde takes control over Jekyll far too often.
If he is guilty of assaulting a woman, he will be deserving of the stiffest punishment the court can hand out, and his career in football will, quite rightly, be at an end.

I never rated him, shove all the stats you want Ken.
Wonder why you never rated him? Trying to think who he made 130 appearances for?
It's cool that you defend your club mate, but I never rated him.
As a player, he squandered his potential. I remember when he was a youngster at City, he was definitely spoken about as a future England regular, and perhaps a pretender to Roy Keane's throne. Sadly he never found a manager (if there even was one) who was able to tame the monster within him.
He is a very unpleasant guy at times, but his family background didn't help. Extreme susceptibility to the "red mist" seems to be his burden. Has been in jail before too. Not to mention lots of offences within the football environment (physical violence, vocal offensiveness, illegal betting).

I was thinking about Keano, on the pitch and having that kind of passion... (Barton never came close to his ability and skill) but don't loose sight we're talking about a Lady that has being assaulted and injured.
