Amazing performance, particularly after the wobble of losing three games from such a commanding position. That shows great maturity and match-ability to pull herself through that and come back even stronger. First time I've seen her, I guess similar for most, but already impressed. Hope she can back it up with one more win at least this week!

She is doing well at the moment too. Just won the first set.

It’s good stuff for an 18 yr old Shedman
One for the future hopefully but maybe even this year if she keeps playing as she is.
Question Author
She’s young, fresh and has fire in her belly
Now it's a tad 'exciting'. It was in danger of becoming a tad too one sided to be labelled exciting. IMHO of course :-)
Young Emma's frailties are there for all to see. If you really fancy her winning it this year, i suggest you rush to the bookies and avail yourselves of the 80/1. :-)
Hopefully, in another season or two, when she has matured a little more - in a tennis sense - she may be ready to become UK Ladies Tennis's next big thing.

Never been in a bookies Ken ;0)
You're not missing anything, Bobbi. Online gambling was a godsend to people like me who only wanted to go in a bookies, place a bet or two and watch the races. Then came those infernal noisy slot machines and their infernal noisy players. Not been inside one for a number of years, now.
Question Author
I could stand outside and ask a die hard to put a bet on haha
That's what used to happen to me on almost every Grand National day.
Question Author
I can just imagine it, me going to our village and hanging around the bookies for someone to put my bet on , hahaha
Excellent result and performance for young Emma. Up next is 28 year old Ajla Tomijanovic (75) who beat Ostapenko today. Emma's odds now down to 22/1 to win. Bookies aren't known for their bravery nor their generosity :-))

She’s done incredibly well today, one to watchKen, I hope it’s an England win- win on this rainy Saturday
Very well done, that girl! She seems to be a very well-balanced person from what I've read and seen. I hope she can keep on doing so well - but it doesn't really matter any more, she can already be proud of herself and know that we're all proud of her. :)
Nice and sunny nearly all day here in the south west bobbisox

Drizzle all day here Shedman and set to be like this all week, I hope it’s nice at the weekend for my girlies trip to the log cabins up in rural Northumberland

Well said Jim
Thanks!

I think what really excited me was the number of winners and passing shots she hit. Having weapons like that should prove very useful for moving up the rankings.

She's going to jump up to about 175 based only on today's win, from 330, chance of top 140 if she wins again on Monday. So a long way to go still to reach the top of the game. On the other hand, she hasn't had a chance to prove her consistency over a season yet, so who knows? One step at a time and all that.

Also, not that that it really matters, but it was on No. 1 Court :)

Yes, I replied when I’d press send but there’s no going back , haha
