No.
Hard to tell. He claims it was self-defence. Whether he went too far, is something only the courts can decide.
I'm obviously missing it, but how long did he get?
Damn savage should never see the light of day again.
Hasn't been sentenced yet.
Will he, ttt? I'm on a phone, and obviously not seeing what the sentence was.
Ah, thanks, jd. So the answer is- nobody knows.
I think by 'got off lightly' he means convicted of manslaughter but cleared of murder.
Yes, fair judgement in my opinion.
P.C didn't set out to kill him and Atkinson had "underlying issues".
//Mr Atkinson's family said justice had been done and hoped he would be remembered for his life, not his death.//

They are the ones who matter in this, as regards getting off lightly I don't think anyone does in situations like this.
Sqad, as we saw before, with Floyd, "underlying issues" isn't an exemption in law. I think PP called it "eggshell case"- so that's irrelevant.
He was rampaging around and trying to strangle his poor Father. Sometimes cops just can't win. If he'd managed to hurt someone, the cop would have probably got it in the neck then as well !!
//The “eggshell skull rule” is a legal doctrine related to injury cases. It states that a defendant's liability will not be reduced just because the plaintiff is more susceptible to injuries.13 Aug 2020//

Maybe i'm missing something, how is tazering him for 33secs+ kicking him in the head twice not attempted murder?
Pixie......I wasn't referring to physical underlying issues but mental issues making him more difficult to restrain.
Ah, ok.
14:38 Didn't the policeman explain that in Court ?
The taser failed twice already. Self-defence isn't attempted or actual murder.
piggynose, There was no evidence of intent a necessary element of murder.
I agree with Sqad in this case. The chap was afraid for his life and didn't know what Atkinson was going to do.
