Dogs Anal Gland Discharge Smell

Our dog very kindly discharged his anal glands on his perch on top of the back of the sofa. It has a throw on this area for just such a problem but unfortunately it had leaked through slightly on to the sofa cushion. The discharge was only the size of a 50p piece but..OMG what a stink!!!
I washed the throw immediately and that’s fine. However, no matter how much I’ve cleaned the sofa cushion (chemdry upholstery cleaner, dilute washing up liquid, febreeze) this foul odour is lingering.
Any suggestions??? I’ve ordered some zoflora in tomorrow’s click and collect.

Hot water and biological soap powder dab then rinse and repeat that should help a lot
Fresh air. Try some tomato juice it works when a dog has met a skunk. Rub in leave about an hour then wipe off
This is one product (used in care homes) that is designed to cope with all manner of "natural" odours...

Martin, thanks for that, have just given it a go and seems (fingers crossed) to have worked. The acid test will be once it’s dried.
Cal, I think rubbing tomato juice into my grey sofa might take the smell away..but leave a big red stain!
Thanks Ginge, that may be worth a go if Martins suggestion or the zoflora tomorrow doesn’t work.
There are videos on youtube telling you how to express your dogs anal glands - change it to a firmer diet to give more pressure on the glands to express naturally. Obviously your vet can do it but our groomer can to.
that zybax is good stuff

Our dog has only dried food, and very firm poop.
He’s had one visit to the vet, about two or three years ago, to have the glands emptied, and they’ve not been a problem since. Until yesterday.
He’s being groomed on Tuesday so we’ll ask the groomer if she can do them, our previous groomer wouldn’t. I honestly don’t think either of us could do it to him.
Thanks for all your help and advice.

Just to let you know (and for anyone else who might suffer the same god awful pong), the biological powder did the trick, not a vestige of smell remains.
I made the mistake of not removing the inner stuffing from the cushion when I initially tried to eradicate the smell, so that too had suffered.
I took the stuffing out last night, gave that a going over too, and left it to dry. That wasn’t quite as successful but a few dabs of Zoflora have made a huge difference.
Thanks again Martin, excellent advice :)
So glad it worked, I keep a cheap box in for accidents

It is isn’t it Atheist? :o)
Makes a pleasant change from Brexit and COVID!
I've used Simple Solution...as s spray and as a fabric/carpet shampoo. In her old age, Sally piddled everywhere, and Sammie also out of protest.
It got rid of all the stinkies.
