He's not complicated at all, just a gadgie who can play snooker.
His mental health issue are widely known and his mood changes more times than the weather. At least he made his views known before a ball had been struck in anger, so to speak. Perhaps he fully expected to get to the final though it would not be a total surprise were he to 'do one' if he feels his health is at risk.
I just enjoy watching Ronnie play and ignore everything else. When his game is 'on', if you like snooker, you can't take your eyes off him.

Although he did deprive another player of a chance, which was wrong,at least Anthony Hamilton withdrew before a ball was struck as he thought his health was at risk.
If you look at it logically, they are being used as guinea pigs by the government, to see how having a live audience pans out with respect to Covid. Apart from having a fairly typical moan, Ronnie was always going to play in the tournament with the audience, which was only stopped after the first day, due to a government u-turn. As for the £500,000, his wealth is estimated at over £10,000,000 so I don't think that was the main factor. However, winning another world title is what spurs him on.
I feel that if Ronnie isn't whining about something, he isn't completely happy.

I felt Hamilton was completely justified in not pulling out before qualifying had ended. Why should he have given up first round prize money and ranking points so someone else could claim them? Barry Hearn was completely out of order with his criticism in my view. Of course, the irony was that had he stuck around, Hamilton's match would've been behind closed doors.
I wonder if Hamilton would have pulled out of the final if it was the first match that allowed spectators?
Love him or hate him, he is box office, he puts bums on seats and the press adore him because they know that he will give them a few 'golden' quotes.
I love watching him play and find myself cussing him when he misses a shot, I think he over thinks things, he has a natural, God given talent and will beat anyone on his day.
He reminds me so much of Alex Higgins, lets hope that after he stops playing he doesn't go down the same road as Alex.
I hope so too saintpeter48. However, he has had breaks from snooker when he has done a lot of media work, even in America. He seems to have some very good friends too.
There is no doubt that snooker needs The Rocket. Without him, there are just not enough attacking players who could fill the arenas. However, I also believe he needs the game just as much for it gives him his 'raison d'etre' and concentrates that troubled mind of his.
Sorry, what's a gadgie?

Just how close do the players get to members of the audience at the Crucible?
His interview after the Selby game had me in stitches - just produced some of the best snooker shots of the competition in a thrilling end to a semi-final match and to every question regarding that game, the competition, and the upcoming final he just rattled something off about his poor cue action, basically saying I'm not talking about any of it. Love the guy.

When they are not at the table, they are just a few feet away from the spectators, NJ.
