In those days the convention was for players to wear their 'position number' on their shirt, rather than their 'squad number' as nowadays.

So, unless there was some reason for BK to change his shirt, he should have been wearing No 8 at centre forward:

Though I've never been a United fan, I will always remember watching that match with my dad. Wasn't that Kidd's 18th Birthday?
Way back when No 8 was worn by a player called an Inside Right. The Centre forward was No 9.
As Ken Bruce would say, Ken4155, "Just one year out!

It was BK's 19th birthday:

Thanks Chris I found this https://soccergator.io/manchester-uniteds-greatest-ever-number-10s/
and when you scroll down it says > so although it says he played in that cup final it doesn't actually say he was wearing the number 10 shirt on that occasion.
Togo: Check my link. It shows Bobby Charlton wearing No 9 at centre midfield.

No, it won't have it. If someone can click on the link and scroll down to Brian Kidd you will see what I am trying to copy and paste. Thanks.
Weird that, 'cos i'm nearly always "One year out" when playing Pop Master :-))
If there's still any doubt left, click on the title in ABerrant's Youtube video. That will open it up on the Youtube website, so that you can see a bigger image. Then move the time bar forward to 4:20, where Kidd scores United's 3rd goal and you can clearly see the number 8 on his back.

Thanks Chris, I will take your word for it. Had no plans for watching the video as I'm not a fan of football, but you have given me the answer I wanted so thanks.
