Well I was going to ask who qualifies for nest season's Champions' League, now that we've got an all-English final .... would we get an extra team, etc ....

..... well ..... I decided to do a search first.

Not as straightforward as you might think: .... well we are talking about UEFA here:

seems clear to me, we'll have five teams if Tottenham win the final?

Nope. Unless there's come kind of miracle, Tottenham should finish in the top 4.

Copied from my link:

////// Tottenham and Liverpool have both reached the Champions League semi-finals.

If one of those sides become European champions and finish in the top four of the Premier League, then only four English teams go into next season's Champions League. The 'extra' group stage spot would go to the Austrian champions, who otherwise need to go through qualifying as Uefa's 11th-ranked league. //////
not as clear as i thought is it? in my defence i wrongly thought tottenham's recent form in the premiership had scuppered their chance of a top four place :-)

Having just read all that (link)... I did believe I had a clear understanding of who qualifies etc... for what comp.

Well done to Spurs though, champs league final maybe worth a look after-all.

It's def a lot more complicated than you think.
If Tottenham were to finish 5th, then yea there would be an extra place for an English team - 5 in total.
If an English team win the Europa League and don't finish in the top 4 (possibly Arsenal) then they qualify for the Champions League.

However, if 2 English teams were to win the Champions League and the Europa League (highly unlikely this season I know), then the maximum number of teams allowed is 5, so the 2 winners would qualify and only the top 3 in the premier league. The team finishing 4th would be relegated to the Europa League group stages.

It's a bit of a headache to say the least :P
Who gets the empty place left in the qualifiers?

//// Who gets the empty place left in the qualifiers? ////

..... read my link - it explains all the different scenarios.
Is my understanding correct
The Champions League will be won by one of the teams that will finish in the top 4 anyway, so we don't get an extra team for that
The only way that we shall get an extra team in the Champions league is if Arsenal win the Europa League (Chelsea are already in the top 4)

Therefore assuming Arsenal win the Europa League, there are two spots available immediately for the Europa League from the Premiership, (Man Utd and Wolves). If Watford win the FA Cup then they will go into the Europa League, but if Man City win the FA CUP then either Everton or Leicester will go in the Europa Cup for finishing 8th!

If Chelsea win the Europa League then there will only be 4 qualifiers for the Champions League
Arsenal and Man Utd would be in the Europa League and the last spot in the Europa League would be between Watford & Wolves depending whether Watford won the FA Cup or not
I think..................
