It doesn't involve strength as an advantage so I don't understand why they cant play each other. i would have thought women would have been pushing for it these days but they are unusually quiet, cant think why.

never understood it myself dave...there are no disadvantages for women to play the men strength doesn't come into it ...its just the standard of women's darts is nowhere near the mens darts
having googled, which has thrown up a lot of different info, as you can imagine,
it's down to funding.
If the women's game were to have as much poured into it as the men, then the women would be freer to practice more.
they don't get the coverage men do, as i mentioned the other day the worlds men darts champion earned in excess of 400k, whilst the women get 12k. His earnings will go up fantastically, whilst the women's won't.
I would say this is a fair example of discrimination, but then again i don't watch men or women playing darts.
If the standard of women's darts is nowhere near the mens (I wouldn't know), then I would imagine this is why they are quiet!
It's like lady Formula One Drivers they don't exist any more, although there have been a few, because the way sponsorship works favours men :)
I'd like to see Anastacia Dobremolsky (sp), Deta Hedman, Trina Gulliver or Lisa Ashton up against RVB or MVG, could be an interesting watch.
Women don't usually have beer bellies.
having said that barry hearn who runs the PDC darts has said there is no womans tour on the PDC tour but there is nothing to stop women entering competitions but as to yet no women has been able to qualify they are i'm afraid not good enough.
at least the BDO has a womens tour and world championships.
Danny you haven't met the wife !!
I don't watch it as i said, but i do think that if more women came forward to play the game, and i bet there are many thousands of women who play pub darts, then there should be those amongst them good enough to compete with the men. Whether they get equal pay is not on the cards.
just as well Mrs Voltage isn't an aber
i'm glad too lol
the best ladies dart player i have seen is lisa ashton who is playing this week in the womens world championships ...i would love too see her play against the men she would beat some of them!
Emmie, it's not just pub darts, there's inter-county and regionals to get through, then there's qualifiers etc. etc.
Volty, she's a cracker !
she is a very good dart player
I know the PDC doesn't have a women's competition (yet) but has a champion from the BDO taken on a champion from the PDC?
not as yet on TV but in the grand slam of darts (which is a mix of BDO and PDC)Scott waites of the BDO won it beating most of the top PDC players
I used to be nearly county standard and have watched top level competitions and in general women are not even close to the men's standard. I don't know the reason but it's not just a case of practice.
excactly prudie there is no explanation the men are better thats it.
i entered a few british opens when much younger when i was a decent player got past 2 rounds once but the standard is so good i had no chance!
