It was a very famous piece of artwork made from childrens' handprints that was displayed in a London gallery

"Marcus Harvey's portrait of Hindley was one of a number of pieces of art seen in the footage filmed in a gallery. "

I think it was an error, no sinister intent.

The whole idea of that piece of art is sick to me.....of all the subjects to choose for children to put their hands too.

I wonder how they explained the concept to the children?

There should be a law against this kind of offence as I find it very very offensive and if I could I would burn it before it had any more publicity.
It was on BBC news a few minutes ago, to say it wont be used again.

It shouldn't have been shown in the first place, even though it was only for a few seconds.
yes no fear bonkers boris will sort everything

A law against art?

No Ethel not art per se. Just a disgraceful choice by the morons who promote London in this way. I expect the team who put the video together to be graduates and for this they should be slayted.

World news comments are running with this picture putting a 'damp squid' on 08 Olympic celebrations. If the a/m graduates r celebrating their notoriety someone needs to educate them as they are not worthy to hold their posts nor degrees.

Whoever put this video footage together, surely it should have been put up for approval, before going on public view.

It is this person or these persons who should now be facing the axe.
"of all the subjects to choose for children to put their hands too."

That's sort of the point. It would just be a picture of Myra Hindley otherwise.
I probably wouldn't have it on my wall but I appreciate the statement it makes and I think it's quite clever. Beats a tin of soup at any rate.

As advertising for the olympics goes I suspect someone will be getting a ticking off on Tuesday but it's hardly the crime of the century, just not very well thought out!
Whatever next? A mural of Adolf Hitler made out of bagels?
Well, let's put this in context. The film was made year ago and featured 'a piece of art'. I watched the Sky coverage of it and it lasted over 15 minutes!! The BBC gave it what it desrved - less than a minute - IT'S NOT IMPORTANT !!
