As a spectacle, i suppose Royal Ascot is up there with the best but, imho, it's not a patch on Cheltenham for action and excitement and i always think there is a lot more hype about this festival, too. That said, it does give us an opportunity to see some beautiful animals in their prime and some at the onset of what could be brilliant careers but, as far as picking winners is concerned, it's a minefield - well, for me it is :-/
So, in hope rather than any confidence, these selections are what my studies have led me to choose.

2.30; Mustashry @ 9/2 (Rev f/c with Laurens)
3.05; Guildsman @ 7/1
3.40; Mab'sCross @ 8/1
5.35; Addeybb @ 7/1

Win singles, 20p Lucky 15, £1 e.w. acca. 4 placed = £24, 4 winners = £3,918.

ITV7; Mustashry, Final Frontier, Guildsman, Mab's Cross, Phoenix of Spain, Coeur De Lion & Addeybb.

Also have a gut feeling that the bookies have somewhat overlooked Mixboy (5.00) by pricing it up so high. As Skybet are paying on 6 places (1/5 odds) i've had £1.50 e.w. @ 25/1.

Best of luck, all.

Cheers Ken.....still can't believe that I left the first one out of my bet after making the prediction. Who would take up this for a bit of entertainment. Still no grumbles here Finished the day £400+ up and have spent the afternoon fizzin ma "bits" off. Been a very good month or so for me. 365 will be closing my account. Haha. Need a lie down and then have a look at tomorrow. My brothers all actually listened to me when I flagged Dettori up and have all had a tickle. Still think he got over excited and went too soon on Turgenev.
Have a look at the first race tomorrow Ken. Some massive prices on offer at the mo. Without doing the maths(had a glass early) it looks like a false book.

Why do they have to screw up main TV Channels with it, surely the average race fan is capable of pressing a button on a remote and selecting a minor channel, or maybe not?
Question Author
Yeah, just had a quick look, Togo. 5 of the last 10 winners have been double figure prices so it's obviously one of those races where not even the bookies have a clue as to the probable outcome. Although, nine of the last 10 winners were successful in their previous race - which might just narrow it down a bit for me - 12 of the 25 runners fit that criteria. And all last 10 winners did so from a double figure berth which whittles it down to 7. Easy, this game :-)
Question Author
Awww, Balders. What gems have you missed? It's a once a year festival, attended by Royalty. More often than not, the racing is on ITV 4 - a minor channel.
//surely the average race fan is capable of pressing a button on a remote and selecting a minor channel, or maybe not?//

Surely the average surly viewer is capable of pressing a button that avoids the racing, or maybe not. (^_*)
// Easy, this game :-) //

Haha come on now Ken......you are back to giraffe racing.

// More often than not, the racing is on ITV 4 - a minor channel //

And that's exactly where it should remain.
Question Author
And that's where i believe all those mundane, pathetic daytime tv shows belong, Baldric. You didn't answer my original question. Just what is it you missed that has you so miffed?
Question Author
I backed 3 more Giraffes yesterday, Togo. Their names were Sunshine, Moonlight and Good Times. Not even a place! I blame it on the bookie. I'll get me hat.

I'm not that miffed, I just find it odd that going by the posts on AB, a
minority sport takes preference over regular programmes.
// a minority sport//

Hmm minority? Hmm sport? Pastime Balders , massive interest from all who love a British institution. I thought that you "knew" about horses and our love of the beautiful, noble creatures. Were you not raised with them? Ken and I and, it would seem, millions of people around the world can find a space in our flinty hearts to appreciate and enjoy their grace and power.
Stay "regular" Balders. (^_*)

// Ken and I and, it would seem, millions of people around the world //

Not that many post on AB so it looks like a minority interest, let's be honest boys.
Question Author
Most on AB are too busy squabbling with one another to watch anything on tv, Balders.
I've told you before, Balders. You're too old for the Teletubbies.

But I luv the Telltubbies,
Well Ken it looks like our "safe space" is being invaded. Methinks more clock in and have a nose than we realize. Balders objects to the horse racing...…...why the long face?
Panky…..hope you had a great day. Nurse the head(don't head the nurse) and please regale us with tales of derring do and moments of sublimity.
