I don't do it. Never have and never will. Neither does himself.
So today I employed the services of an oven cleaning company..OMG, the company say they'll bring it up like new and by heck they have!!
The very nice chap stripped the double oven down, soaked those bits in a magic solution in his van, then set about the rest. He was here three hours and did the cooker hood too.
Money well spent and highly recommended to anyone else who's a sloven with their oven like me :)

a sloven with their oven - I like that a lot lol

Life's too short, however, I have a hob I've been avoiding for a couple of weeks......
All for the very reasonable price of ?
Whats the name of this company ?

My hob needs doing too Alba. This chap showed me how to remove the hob knobs and says forget all the fancy hob cleaning products you can buy but just use fairy platinum, undiluted.

£82 OG. Am I allowed to say the name, it's a nationwide franchise.
Ah, could be worse, especially for 3 hours.
Question Author
It's all relative isn't it OG, if they'd charged £100 it would still have been value for money in my book. They asked for the make and age of it when I rang up and gave me the price over the phone.
I prefer dunking me hob nobs in a cuppa :-)

£82 seems fine, a hefty chunk if you haven't got it tho. But you only get what you pay for I suppose.
If you're happy with the result, then I'm pleased for you :-D x
(now, don't be using the oven til Xmas)
I sometimes get 'Living Social' deals emailed me for oven cleaning deals in my area. I've been tempted but never taken it up.
How do you get away with not cleaning your hob for a few weeks? I have a range style cooker and even though I mainly only use one side of it both seem to need a clean daily!! Maybe I'm just a messy cook...

I clean the oven every weekend...
Oh take it up, Eleena.......it's how I have my oven cleaned about once a year and it's bliss......don't use it as often as most but it does look nice....a wipe over when I do use it and no more scrubbing into nooks and crannies....... :-)
I have mine done once a year, double oven, I was going to throw out and old roasting tin that sits in the bottom of the oven and he made that look brand new as well. Local Company charged £55.

I have a ceramic hob Ummmm which is easy to wipe over every time I use it. But now and again it needs a scrape with the metal blade thing which it came with, to get the burnt on bits off completely. And I've never taken the knobs off so now I know how to, they'll get a good going over as will the gunge hiding under them.
Yes Gness, I'm sure it was only 25.00? May be a service can be offered cheaper by having it done at a certain time (a block service in certain areas)
Question Author
Eleena, if anyone you employ are as good as this lot I've just used, then I'd give them a go.
£55 is a really good price Ubasses.
That would be a really good price, Eleena...if you can get it done for that....x
Question Author
£25 Eleena? Bite their hand off!
I've let a few offers go already, I'll look in to the next one I get, thanks.
