Yes it does sound odd. But I've actually seen a corner kick booted straight back to the kicker's goalkeeper. It was deep into injury time, 1-0 (or perhaps 2-1, can't remember).

here's one for you, lets see who really knows the laws of the game shall we, try to be honest (yeah, i know!). Direct free kick to the defence he passes back to the keeper, the keeper misses it, it goes into the goal, what it the decision?

If a defender passes the ball to the keeper and it goes in the goal it is an own goal, and is a goal to the attacking opposition.

And if it doesn't go in the goal and the goalie handles it, it's a backpass resulting in an indirect free kick.
