howard hughes in the later stages of his life , i assume, was highly vunerable- so how come those around him didnt rob him blind of his enormous fortune- surely he was ripe for financial exploitation?

My recollection is that it was claimed that this did indeed happen to him - he wasn't exactly robbed blind, but he was manipulated and exploited by his staff. Sorry I haven't been able to find any useful websites on the subject, though.
