Since the French FA contribute 60 players & the next highest are the FA and the Spanish FA with 15 each, they have a point, wouldn't you agree?

No because we speak English :-)
Maybe they couldn't agree on the placing of an apostrophe in African Nations' Cup so decided to change the name to African Cup of Nations. But it's more likely to be the French influence.
